Young Professionals Entrepreneurship


On Saturday, November 17th we are having a friendly casual panel discussion with four distinguished guest speakers. The panel will touch on the transition from school to tech startups and challenges ahead of young entrepreneurs. In this diverse panel, we're hosting speakers with different levels of experience sharing their knowledge with our audience.

Niki Bayat
Niki, is the first USC doctoral student named as one of the “35 innovators under 35” by MIT Technology Review. During her PhD, she has developed ground-breaking biomedical devices including an injectable hydrogel for sealing open globe eye injuries. She's the co-founder of AesculaTech, Inc. developing a platform of thermally responsive materials for sustainable, localized drug delivery. 

Firouz Naderi
Dr. Naderi is the former Director for Solar System Exploration at NASA’s JPL where he spent more than 30 years in various technical and senior executive positions. Best known for his leadership of the Mars exploration program, he has contributed to some of the most iconic NASA robotic missions to various corners of the solar system. He is an alumnus of USC, has an asteroid named after him and now coaches early stage startups among other things.

Shahram Farhadi
Shahram Farhadi is the head of Oil and Gas Tech in Beyond Limits where he is involved in the development of artificial intelligence systems for various industrial applications. Prior to that, Shahram has worked as a Data Scientist in tech
startups and a petro-physicist in OXY. Shahram is a PhD graduate from USC where his research was on computational aspects of small-scale fluidics.

Farhad Mohit
Farhad holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School, and a double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics/Applied Science and Economics. Farhad is a serial entrepreneur; most recently, the founder and CEO of Flipagram, one of the largest mobile video apps in the world. Out of graduate school, he founded, one of the first consumer ratings platforms on the internet. He's also a founder of Shopzilla, one of the world’s largest shopping search engines. 


Anna Farzindar
Dr. Anna Farzindar is a research associate and Health Informatics advisor of the NSF’s Integrated Media Systems Center and a faculty member of the Department of Computer Science at USC. She was the CEO and co-founder of NLP Technologies Inc., a company specializing in Natural Language Processing. She received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Montreal and her Doctorate in automatic summarization of legal documents from Paris-Sorbonne University.
